Single Parents are Crazy (Or will be soon.)
The Boy and I are flying solo this week as DDoll is at alt ed conference in the Portland area. All and all we've made it through the day and a half without needing to call CPS in more than normal. But feeling the full and unrelenting focus of a young child (with a running stream of consciousness commentary) while still trying to get work and household chores done makes me think that people raise kids alone should be sainted and/or institutionalized. I have not resorted the electric babysitter yet, though I might hold the chance of a special TV night on Thursday as a bribe for good behavior. (I'm not sure if the good behavior needs to be from me or him.)
Still, if I didn't know that come Friday evening I'll again have the ability to say "Tag, you're it!" I'd be a sad camper.
I should go as my desk is filling up with Lego cars.
PS. I also miss DDoll greatly, but that's a different topic.

Sadly, my first thought at the words "electric babysitter" was not "TV." Heh. But yes, I agree, I had a friend who was a single mom for a while and I don't know how she did it. Just remember these three little number: 9, 1 and 1.

I really don't know how single parents do it. Thank goodness for Dr. GNM, he bears the brunt of the stream of conciousness in our household.

HAHAHAHA I had to think about "electric babysitter" too! (If you use it, though, I won't tell. I understand. It was my babysitter as a child.)

I'm sorry, I didn't realize the "electric babysitter" was what they were calling those now.
We'll get through the week with other deversions.
I'm back from the conference, and I see no evidence of foul play, CPS, or house cleaning ;-)

OK, I didn't really get the Paris reason (or was it Lindsay?) but those children are screwed. When the better choice between two options is Mr. Kevin Federline, there really needs to be an evalutation of those only two choices.
